2010 Accompanied Cycling Tours: May 30 - June 5 / Sept 12-18 | |||||
The tours will appeal to those who enjoy accompanied cycling
through the back roads of rural France, are reasonably fit, and who
wish to depart with a better understanding of Charente’s rich and
varied history, and cuisine.
Each tour is accompanied daily by Roger, and is limited to 10
persons. Daily cycling distances range from 50-75km,
with both flat and rolling countryside. None of the routes
is considered difficult, however shorter alternatives or car rescue is always
close at hand. Departing each morning from Lavaud,
each day’s itinerary is different—ranging from the medieval route
of Richard the Lionhearted, to the unrivalled Roman baths at
Chassenon, from Angoulême’s gentle waterways to Cognac’s
Grand Champagne vinyards, and passing through or by the Regional
Forest of the Périgord, numerous chateaux, medieval villages,
prehistoric caves, local markets, and vinyards. A typical day
consists of 4 to 6 hours of cycling finishing poolside in the afternoon
at Lavaud.
