Lavaud was purchased in 1999 by Florence and Robert Manderscheid, a French/American couple who in 2008 decided to open its doors and share their enthusiasm for this part of France.
Lavaud’s guests are lodged within the château’s recently renovated “dependances”. The style of each of its four bedrooms is different,
and speaks to the owners’ previous lives in other countries.
Each bedroom possesses a queen or king size bed, its own bathroom with shower and/or bathtub, and a view of the
château’s upper courtyard with its swimming pool, Mediterranean garden, and terrace. Internet is available throughout. Common areas
exist indoors (with television) and outdoors (at poolside). Guests also have access to Lavaud’s park, garden, library, and cinema room.
Lavaud is great for recreational hiking and cycling. We have a small inventory of bicycles we make available to our guests.
Breakfast is served indoors or out, depending on the weather. We are happy to organize picnics, and dinner. We actively promote Charente cuisine, which includes many famous dishes (eg duck, foie gras, truffle)
and revolves around fresh local ingredients: vegetables and fruits from the local farmer's market or our own organic garden, the mushrooms, nuts and berries from the region, beef from the Limousin, seafood from the
nearby coast.
